April 2010 Raby Athanee / Jamada Al-Awal 1431

ربيع الثاني ـ جماد الأول 1431

A Dollar a Day is All it Takes!

Coming to the masjid for salah, participating in a class or halaqa, enjoying dinner and activities are activities enjoyed by many at the ISGKC. We take for granted the cost associated with set up, preparing, and managing these events. All of these activities take a large toll on the building and puts a lot of wear and tear on the facility

With the exception of the service manager, most work at the ISGKC is done by volunteers. The Executive Committee and Board of Directors consists of dedicated brothers and sisters volunteering their time for the service of the ISGKC.

The administration tries very hard to keep the operating costs of the ISGKC to the minimum, but that may not work some times. For example, almost all of our budgeted snow removal fees were used within a period of one month in December and January. What are we going to do in February and March?

Also, We are all enjoying the new Gym and school, but it costs thousands of dollars for heating and cooling. In January, we had a $4500 electrical bill. Where is this money coming from?

We all need to pay for it! It is that simple. With your support, we can maintain the great services we offer to the community. Every person who comes to the Masjid should feel an obligation to maintain Allah's house. This includes the gym, the school, and the parking lot. It is ALL part of the MASJID.

How can you help? Simple. Are you willing to pay $1 a day to Allah's house? It is not too much. Just one dollar a day is all it takes to keep the masjid going. $1 a day to help the community. Will you be willing to help the community for $1 a day?

Of course, all of us will, inshallah. This month, the brothers and sisters will be asking you to do that by committing to be a member of the ISGKC community and pledge $1 a day to pay for this gift from Allah.

Don't think of it as a charity. Think of it as your duty to Allah to ensure His house and gift to us is always in the best shape. Think of it as an investment in this life and your next life too.

Did You Know?

ISGKC has open internet access at the Masjid, school and community center, ISCC. This will allow any person to get on the internet and do their homework, business and surf. Of course we do have standards so there is a blocking software for illegal or improper sites. Good bye Star Bucks, hello Masjid. You can bring your drink to the Masjid too :)

The Dome on the top of the Masjid was painted by brothers Mohamad Al-Housin, Mahbood Arhaman and Ahmad Ghosheh on a windy and hot day this month. It looks much better but we will need to replace it since it is old and crumbling.

If you are just dropping off your child, please do not hold up the line for others.
If there are other parking places other than the one at the end of the middle row, do not park at the very end where everyone needs to turn around and leave
Many people have reported that they have almost hit a car parked here.

Please do not park your car is a place where there are no lines for parking.
Please do not let your children run and play in the parking lot after picking them up when you are still talking with someone.

When you pick up your child from the classroom, it is your responsible for safety at that point JAK!

School New Heaters

New heaters were purchased last month for the elementary building due to the extreme cold temperatures. The existing heaters did not keep up with heating the classrooms and would continuously trip the breaker. Al-hamdolilah, Br Mohammad Naser and the School Board worked hard to raise money, purchase them and install them. Thank you to all who donated money. These units will also work as airconditioners in the spring and summer months when the temperatures rise. We have purchased many new items for our school this year , and we should remember to thank Allah for all of our blessings.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SR. GULNAZ & THE LUNCH TEAM They have received the “Food Excellence Award” for the year 2009. This makes two years in a row for receiving this award.
